If we continue burning fossil fuels as we pollute the air
When we could be paying attention to environmental care
As we stay too focused on making money to change our ways
Life might seem to be too complicated, and we can’t just listen to what the scientists say
Extinction
Extinction is a word we only use when animals are not seen on earth anymore
Maybe it’s not a word for humans so we don’t need to try having a future that is secure
We should buy more gas using cars and use more devices that will eventually pollute
And do nothing different, so we can try to fix our problems by taking out the root
We started on a destructive path when some of us started using humans long ago
And now the new changes that are being made to give us an easier life is only causing more pain and sorrow
Let us not forget that the earth can get too hot for us to live on it one day
So extinction for humans might not be very far away
The Need for Climate Action
If we could wake up and see that our actions can cause pain and misery for others
We would make better plans to change, instead of saying, why bother
Climate change requires change of action in many ways
If we don’t want to see more bad weather and hotter days
We will start doing what we can do now to make the future bright
Since all we need to think about is treating the environment just right
One Earth to Protect
We all belong to the same world, it doesn’t matter if we are rich or poor
The same problem that the poor has might one day sit at the rich man’s door
It makes no sense for us to say some problems will never come our way
When we can find ways to change what we do and say
When there is need for change we should be prepared to do our part
We shouldn’t seek to hold on to denial while lives are being torn apart
The facts say some people are losing their homes and all their belongings
And this bad situation could be a symptom of the beginning
The beginning of a road that leads to a future that is very bleak
When all we need to do now is listen to some of the scientists when they speak
Climate solutions were given and now they are being simplified so our children can understand them
Should we continue to allow the rich to help us to create more problems?
The youth are speaking out about the changes they want to see
They are worried about the people who are living with in the midst of misery
Help them to become the change you want to see in the future
Remember climate action can cause us to live in a way that is much better

I know it sounds good and compassionate, but the Earth doesn’t need saving. Yes, we do harm locally, and we should protect the groundwater and reduce air pollution, more so where people are congested, and reducing pollution does make sense when practical. But the Earth itself doesn’t even notice us. I wrote a list of scientists in a blog who understand the complexities. I’ve learned to think for myself, and never, ever, listen to propaganda, for I heard this while growing up. All the best.
